ROM

So I went to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) today. Favorite parts were definitely the Greek statues and, of course, the galleries of Egypt.

Can you believe how close they let me get to the exhibits?!

...WOW, JUST KIDDING. I was at Museum station.

Art

Anybody can aesthetically transfer a real life image onto paper. Whether it's:
Abstract Art...

Pop Art...

Realism...

Surrealism...

or any other form of art, it still remains as a classic description of our spirit's essence and universal freedom.
One thing I've noticed with art over the years, is that while an artist can master landscapes, or portraits, the one thing they can never seem to perfect are the eyes of a subject; pupils hold, in reality, way too much depth -- as they say, the eyes are the window to the soul, and that in itself is incredibly challenging to translate on paper. After all, we artists only transfer the physical perceptions to paper, and nothing else.

So when I look at a portrait, I look at the eyes, to see if the artist was talented and observant
enough to capture the depth needed to make you feel the artistry. This is why I don't do many portraits. However, there was one artist at my high school, who captured that essence in a charcoal sketch of George Clooney. It was gorgeous. He was perfectly imperfect; she even managed to draw in that glisten his eyes have, near the central cortex, and moreover, managed to draw in the heaviness around his eyes -- when I look at his eyes, I get the sense of compassion for humanity, but also, humanity's burden. I felt that when I looked at her sketch.

I look for feeling in abstract art, because it's this art that is the feeling in itself. That art is the feeling that has been captured in time by the artist. It's freedom from every form of oppression known to man, because there is no format. You are to interpret it as you wish. You are to feel what you wish. You are to take from it what you wish, as opposed to a classical landscape painting, of which is just a picture, beautiful in itself, but you are meant to feel the feeling the artist wishes you to feel -- you have no choice. Surrealism does this, as well, but it makes me extremely uncomfortable. I don't know if it's the mediums they use to construct their pieces, but generally, surrealist's are disturbed in some way; overall, I like art that gives you a chance to think and feel. Art that makes you feel is the best art.

The Rant (One and Only) -- The Edit

You know what's annoying? When people make me hate other people, or inanimate objects that are only working to bring some exuberance to my mundane life. Also, these bug me:
  • The Conservative Government: You say you're 'conservative', but I don't see much conservation -- you're clearly radicalists, spending my tax dollars on everything in the world, but education and poor people.
  • Rants: Fuck you people and your rants. I hate blogs about rants, and now I'm ranting because of you fuckers.
You know what else is annoying?
Generally, when people feel they can always have their cake and eat it, too -- here's the thing, if I can't consume...

Five slices of watermelon, an extra-large sized poutine (with extra cheese), two pieces of boiled corn, two cheeseburgers and two full glasses of milk at the same time without puking my intestines out, there's no way in Wonderland that I'll stand by and watch you have your cake and eat mine, too.

Trust me. I will work my lazy ass to its core to make sure that your life is just as fair as mine.

End Note...
I understand that we are all human, we all do things we're not proud of, but if you're gonna dance, then DANCE; If you're gonna run, then RUN; If you're gonna eat, then EAT; And if you're going to be a bitch, then BE ONE.

Works

An incredible piece of work from Polish artist, Zdzisław Beksiński (I can't say his name either).
The muted tones really compliment the feelings of hopelessness in the painting.

I fee like this sometimes.

Insight on Relationships

Imported from msn.com:

In times of stress, we look to our relationships to help us through. This may be why traffic to online dating sites spikes when the Dow falls, says Gian Gonzaga, Ph.D., a senior research scientist at eHarmony Labs and an affiliate faculty member at UCLA.

But while singles start new relationships in times of stress, people who are already coupled up may find that stress damages their couplehood. "Stress has a tendency to get under the skin of a relationship," Gonzaga says.
It does this, in part, by eating away at your self-control and weakening the resources that usually stop you from, say, dropping sarcastic wisecracks on your spouse.

"Self-control functions like a muscle," says Eli Finkel, Ph.D., a professor of psychology at Northwestern University.
"If you've been implementing a lot of self-control in other domains, you'll have less left over for your relationship." So after you spend a day at the office trying not to say or do anything that will cost you your job, you may not have the resources left to handle even the smallest argument with your wife.

The Joy's of the Single Life.

Who ever coined the phrase, "men live on Mars, women live on Venus," was possibly one of the most brilliant minds of our time - they truly were not lying.

The dissimilarities between men and women are incredibly vast: so vast, that they stretch far beyond our galaxy's light years, to the point that their entities were generated on two separate galactic bodily plains of existence (evidently, Venus and Mars). Moreover, while both genders live side by side on this salient, circular structure of liquid and dirt, their psyche still seem to dwell on their respective planets.

I mean, really. Isn't it true? Men are complete opposites in comparison to women, and yet, without each other, there would be none of us. Yes, without both the male and female sex, and their... extra-curricular activities, we would be seemingly non-existent as a species.

Recently, the universe has involuntarily kicked my reluctant ass back into the 'single world', and goodness gracious, I couldn't wait to get out of it faster (quick plea to the universe!).

I have 'friends' getting upset with me for opting to focus on my financial responsibilities instead of attending their unimportant social functions; random messages and text's wanting to know how I am, or what my plans are; invites to hang out with guys I haven't seen in ages! All because they want to occupy my vaginal quarters.

I'd rather die a nun. Other than that, I don't have much else to say about it. :)

A Message To Plastics

Some people are fake. To you (and you know who you are), I dedicate this blog:

Take our fat thumbs and shove it up your plastic asses.
Fuck you, and have a nice life -- I'll be enjoying mine without you in it :)

Rings

I wear them. They make me feel secure. Almost like when a lover is holding me. I feel confident in myself. I feel unique. I feel like I don't care about what you think about me. I feel like the most content me. And it makes me want to do things with my hands.

In short, it makes me feel bad ass.
